Accepted Identification Requirements Change
The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) has updated its student identification requirements. Mariners must provide one of the following:
- Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC)
- U.S. Passport
- State-issued REAL ID
If a mariner does not have one of the three forms of identification listed above, they must provide a government-issued birth certificate, including its certificate/serial/reference number, along with a state-issued photo ID.
