First Aid and CPR

Course Summary:

Any applicant who has successfully completed our First Aid and CPR course will satisfy: • Elementary First Aid per STCW Code Table A-VI/1-3; • Elementary First Aid per 46 CFR 11.302(a)(3) and 46 CFR 12.602(a)(3); and • The first aid and CPR training requirements of 46 CFR 11.201(i)(1).

Prerequisites:

The course is open to all seafarers who are to serve on board sea-going merchant ships. There are no particular educational requirements beyond ability to read English.

Course Details:

The course covers the following topics:

  • Position Casualty
  • Control Bleeding
  • Apply appropriate measures of basic shock management
  • Apply appropriate measures in event of burns and scalds, including accidents caused by electriccurrent
  • Rescue and transportof casualty
  • Apply resuscitation techniques

Examination:

A 10 – question written examination will be given and a score of 70% must be achieved. Practical demonstration exercises will also be evaluated.
