Course Details:

  • Working in the maritime industry
  • USCG Drug & Alcohol policy
  • Company expectations
  • Crew integration, career paths, advancement opportunities and personal evaluations
  • Chain of command, shipboard life, sea/shore rotation and shipboard customs & courtesies
  • Shipboard sanitation, personal hygiene, work duties and watchstanding responsibilities
  • Complete 8-hour USCG approved/STCW IMO compliant First Aid & CPR course
  • Vessel terminology including setting watertight integrity
  • Shipboard emergencies
  • Shipboard fire prevention and firefighting with hands on practice using portable fire extinguishers
  • Marlinespike seamanship including practical line handling
  • Deck maintenance including hand tool usage, safety and surface preparation and painting
