Basic Training (STCW)

Course Summary:

This course provides training to mariners seeking to meet the US Coast Guard or IMO requirements for STCW Basic Training. This is a series of four courses (FF, PSSR, PST, FA/CPR), if you do not require all four courses, please see the course listing for each individual course you may need and sign up for them individually.

Prerequisites:

Students must be physically capable of donning Firefighting Ensemble and Immersion Suit. Some activities included are fighting basic fires, jumping into a pool, boarding a life raft and swimming in a lifejacket. All trainees are required to swim at least 20 feet with a lifejacket and remain afloat for at least one minute without a lifejacket.

Swim suit or shorts are required for the practical assessments in the pool.
