This course will satisfy STCW renewal requirements for a mariner who is actively serving on seagoing ships and has completed at least 360 days of seagoing service within the past five years.

Course Summary:

Any applicant who has successfully completed our Advanced Fire Fighting Revalidation course will satisfy the requirements of STCW Code Section A-VI/3 and 46 CFR 11.201(h)(1), and 11.303(d), provided that the mariner has at least 1 year of sea service within the last 5 years; AND Tasks 1.3.A, 1.5.A, 2.1.A, 2.1.B, 3.1.A, 3.1.B, 4.1.A,4.1.B, AND 4.1.C from NVIC 09.14, Advanced Firefighting

Prerequisites:

Students enrolling in this course should have completed a previously approved Advanced Firefighting course, 1 year of sea service in the past 5 years, have the knowledge expected of a mariner who needs a revalidation and are expected to be in general good health. Additionally, students are expected to be able to speak and understand English.

Course Details:

The syllabus covers the requirements of the STCW Convention Chapter VI, SectionA-VI/3, as amended 2010. On demonstrating the practical assessments in advanced fire fighting as outlined in NVIC 09-14, the trainee will be competent to take command, organize and train fire parties and control fire-fighting operations. The seafarer will have revalidated the knowledge of fire prevention and anability to inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment. He/she will also be able to investigate and report on incidents involving fire.
