This course will satisfy STCW renewal requirements for a mariner who cannot provide evidence of 360 days of seagoing service within the past five years.

Course Summary:

This 12-hour course is intended to provide a person with the knowledge, skill and understanding of Advanced Fire Fighting Refresher training requirements of STCW Code, as amended 2010, Section A-VI/3 and 46 CFR 11.201(h)(1), and 11.303(e).

Prerequisites:

Students enrolling in this course should have completed an approved Advanced Firefighting course previously and are expected to be in general good health. Additionally, students are expected to be able to speak and understand English.

Course Details:

The syllabus covers the requirements of the STCW Convention Chapter VI, SectionA-VI/3, as amended 2010. On meeting the minimum standard of competence in advanced fire fighting refresher, a trainee will be competent to take command,organize and train fire parties and control fire-fighting operations. The seafarer will have re-acquired the knowledge of fire prevention and an abilityto inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment. He/she will also be able to investigate and report on incidents involving fire.

Examination:

Written exam: 10 questions with a passing score of 70%. Also, practical demonstrations.
