supplementary emails. However, once a week during the summer (July, August and September), you will receive a series of
prompts to provide feedback on various subjects and in particular, the security issues you are facing. For more details,
see our on-line security home page.
Additional Information on the Security Enhancement Group
MIT students have been using IT as a tool to enhance the learning environment for over half a century. Our Security Enhancement Group (SIG) allows us to ensure that these tools provide secure access to MIT’s resources as well as its faculty, staff and students. In addition to setting up specific security features on our bulletin board system, we have also developed a number of security tools. For more details on how we use these tools, see our Security Site Guide.
Mail account setup
When you sign in to the Internet with your MIT email address, you will automatically get access to some of the enhanced features. If you see this message, click on “Security Profile”. You will be taken to a form where you can provide your login and password information for the MIT Email Account. If you forget your password, click on “Forgot password” to set one up.
For security reasons, you will not be able to create a new password for your email account. However, any of your old passwords should work for the new account. After you have signed into the email account, you will be able to access a variety of tools on the web.
For information about providing password changes for any other MIT accounts, please contact the IT Service Center.
You can use your e-mail address as an address book so that people can communicate with you using the MIT-provided email and listserv services.
For information on providing new contact information for MIT listservs, please contact the IT Service Center.
