Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.
AutoCAD technology evolves so quickly that new versions are released every year, sometimes more frequently than once per month. As AutoCAD 18 has just been released, I thought I’d summarise the Autodesk 2018 release notes and discuss some of the new features and improvements available in this release.
Autodesk AutoCAD 2018 Release Notes
Version 2018 was released on the 2nd June 2018. It is the first version to be released using AutoLISP and the first version to be available on both Windows and Mac platforms.
The 2018 release brings new features including a refresh of the UI, improvements to the command palette and a new command that allows you to take AutoCAD’s “natural line” based drawing tools to CAD data.
Also included is the integration of DXF, DWG and PDF files into the drawing process.
So what’s new?
The AutoCAD user interface (UI) has been updated to match other features in 2018 including:
Improved drawing and importing of DXF and PDF files
Exporting of PDF files
Support for creating PDF/X files
UI has also been updated to be more consistent across the desktop and mobile apps.
Updated command palette
A new command palette has been added to the list of tools in the menu bar. It provides improved access to AutoCAD commands. The palette is also organised in such a way that you can find commands by name, category or description. The commands have been organised into two groups: drawing-related and non-drawing related. The two groups include:
Drawing-related commands like SCAN and TUTORIAL, which are designed to help you create drawings and drawings on the fly.
Non-drawing related commands like CONNECT and INDEX, which are used to communicate and coordinate with other software packages.
The commands are grouped under these headings to make the tool easier to find and use.
In addition to these new features, you can now toggle through the command menu in the tool bar to open the command palette.
New command: take a natural line
The new take a natural line command is a set of two commands that, when used together, allow you to draw a line that behaves like you would if you drew a line using only AutoCAD’s native drawing tools.
These tools include:
ResolveDrawing — Tool for resolving image links on drawings.
AutoCAD and other Autodesk products have large extensions for Visual Studio, Delphi and other programming languages.
The AutoCAD program can be used to create new objects, as well as edit existing objects or 3D objects in a drawing. From the drawing, it creates and manipulates lines, splines, arcs, circles, ellipses, polygons, surfaces and polyline strips. A planar view is used to see the various objects. It is also possible to edit elements of the objects, select from a library of styles and modify the properties of the various styles, such as color.
While AutoCAD and other AutoCAD products are popular with graphic designers, architects and other users for producing 2D drawings, several of these users are now turning to 3D modeling as it is more easily used to create models of objects. Other users are turning to AutoCAD to import and export 3D models, whether from a digital camera, 3D scanner, using 3D modeling programs, or from 3D scanners.
AutoCAD also has a few scripting languages for programming. It supports the following languages: AutoLISP, Visual LISP, VBA,.NET and ObjectARX. ObjectARX is a C++ class library, which was also the base for:
Autodesk Exchange Apps. Autodesk Exchange Apps is a collection of useful AutoCAD plug-ins available from Autodesk Exchange Store. A few of them are listed below:
Autodesk Exchange App: Tractiscopie – Tractiscopie is an AutoCAD Plug-in for digitizing the contour of a road or other surfaces. This allows the user to create an elevation model of the road.
Autodesk Exchange App: Windows Optimization – Windows Optimization allows users to optimize the Windows system settings to improve performance. It does this by changing various system settings.
AutoCAD eXtension (Axe) is an extension for AutoCAD that allows developers to build Windows-based add-on applications for AutoCAD.
AutoCAD Map 3D is a mapping application that was released as a beta version on October 15, 2007. It requires the installation of AutoCAD 2009 software. It features 3D views of maps, information on the location of utilities and infrastructure. It also shows points of interest and allows the creation
Press Ctrl + A, select Add-ons and then navigate to Autodesk >> AutoCAD >> Keygen.
Press Enter to use the keygen.
The “License.rkl” file will now be created in your folder.
Double click on the new license file.
In the dialog, check the box that says “AutoCAD is not registered”.
Click on OK and then OK again.
Instead of all the tedious work of keygen and products, you can always download the trial version for free from the Autodesk website. This is available in both the US and the EU. This way you can try out the software before you install it. It will then ask you to install it in the background.
Install the free trial version for Autodesk AutoCAD. You will be prompted to install it in the background.
