Chesapeake Marine Training Institute Offering Night/Weekend Captain’s Course Starting March 5
Recognizing professional and recreational mariners often have to juggle sea time with training time, Chesapeake Marine Training Institute will offer a night and weekend Captain’s Course starting March 5.
The course – Operator of an Uninspected Passenger Vessel (six pack) through Master, 100 Gross Registered Tons (including 25 and 50 ton, depending on qualifications) – will be held for five weeks on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Chesapeake Marine Training Institute (CMTI) is approved by the U.S. Coast Guard National Maritime Center to train mariners as well as administer the exam. Students who complete their training can, instead of traveling to a regional exam center, take the test to receive their license at the campus in Gloucester, Va.
Tuition is $1195 for Master and $1145 for the Operator of an Uninspected Passenger Vessel, the license most needed by charter boat captains.
CMTI is offering a special “Captain’s Training Bundle” which includes the tuition for the U.S. Coast Guard-approved Captain’s Course and includes Elementary First Aid and CPR, CMTI’s License Application Assistance, and your choice of either the Commercial Assistance Towing Endorsement or Auxiliary Sail Endorsement.
The training bundle cost is $1495, a $100 savings from the cost of taking each course separately. In addition to experienced, personal instruction, CMTI includes all materials needed to take their Captain’s course - Weems & Plath parallel rules, Weems & Plath dividers, personal copy of U.S. Coast Guard Inland and International Rules of the Road book, spiral notebook, pencil, eraser, messenger bag and all needed training reference books and charts. There are no hidden or additional charges.
Mariners who enroll in the training bundle may select which course times they enroll in based on what meets their schedule.
