The 70 hour Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS)
will cover subject material relevant to successful operation of
equipment
aboard merchant ships, whose implementation was mandated on
February 1, 1999, on the USA and all foreign registries.

Prerequisites:
No previous background with any radio equipment required.
To provide the knowledge requirements to meet the specifications
of and compliance with Section A/IV-2 of the STCW ’95 Code, and
meeting all USCG and IMO Model Course requirements. USCG
licensed students will also receive the FCC GMDSS Radio Operator
License.
