Course Details:

This course provides a comprehensive review and additional instruction in areas of a student’s observed weakness of all positioning and plotting procedures applicable to the particular Radar Observer Endorsement level on a mariner’s license. The mariner is provided additional exercises and time to practice each technique on the RADAR simulator to insure the mariner has acquired the required knowledge/skill.

Once the student has demonstrated competency to the instructor and feels comfortable with the information presented, the following examinations are given:

• Rivers – Collision avoidance and positioning in a river
• Inland – Rivers portion plus collision avoidance including target vessel course/speed change
• Unlimited – Rivers and Inland portion plus effect of own-ship course/speed change
